Telkom Dinosaur rouses itself

Telkom has made huge strides in customer service and has shown the agility to cut its fees when necessary.

Wrong and wrong again.

Telkom is just forcing the people to find and use more affordable technology. Their quest for short term returns is going to bite them in the rear.

"Telkom now has to spend some of that to create new revenue streams for the future. That means bringing in technicians who can marry voice to text and images, are intimate with the internet’s possibilities, know what people want and what they will pay, and can create compelling services in a world where everything is still evolving."

1) They keep firing their staff so who would want to work for them in the future when the SNO is hiring?

2) They have absolutely no idea of what we want.

3) The current prices that we are paying reflect exactly how much research they have done into how much we SHOULD be paying.

4) While the world evolves, we go backwards, lose investment, skills etc all thanks to our friends at Telkom.

I don't think they are going to survive because they are not going to be able to change in time. If history is anything to go by, and it usually is, there is no way I would use their triple play sevices. I am sure that I am not alone too.

telkom killed the telephone - now they are going to pay.

It's easy for them to drop their fees if they overcharge in the first place. A couple of chips here and there is nothing. They just do it when their hand is being forced and not for the greater good of the public, oh no...

If Telkom applies themselves to brigning ADSL to us in the way we are asking them to, I suspect they do not have to look at other revenue streams. The ADSL product will give them the income they require through the volume uptake.

BUT it seems instead of providing a fantastice ADSL product which people would want to go for, they look at other income streams.

They sit on a pot of gold--ADSL--they do not seem to be aware of the pot of gold.

thats because the pot of gold is under their behinds and they so used to sitting on those that their behinds have gone numb and they cannot feel that they sitting on a pot of gold rather than the usual soft cushion

logical isnt it.......

Telkom don't see to have any idea of what is happening in the rest of the world !!!

Telkom’s media people quickly played down Molotsane’s advances towards Didata, but they reaffirmed that growth and expansion for the fixed-line operator would involve acquiring an IT company. The question is not why or when, but who?

And the share prices went up after that little fib... I thought that was illegal :-)

So what kind of dinosaur is Telkom?

A supersized leave-eating brontosorus? A big and powerful T-Rex? A heavily defended and stubborn triceratops?

History is full of firms who died out when they couldn't adapt quickly enough. Telkom should feel privileged because they will join the ranks of these now-extinct companies. *cough*

While it is easy to take pot shots, Telkom has made huge strides in customer service and has shown the agility to cut its fees when necessary.

Just wanted to quote this again to emphasize TELKOM has NOT made strides in customer service or shown AND agility in cutting fees.

In fact their customer service is non-existent - Just browse this site and other consumer sites (hellkom.co.za, hellopeter.com, etc) and you'll see they don't know what customer service even is.

With regards to cutting prices, they make a small cut in the ADSL line rental and then come up with things like the Nov 1 per GB billing structure which virtually annihilates broadband use for South Africans.

Should get this reporter to amend or retract that portion of the article.

A rapistoraus parasitoraus. One of the few dinosaur species with a two-part name, normally only reserved for ravenous scavengers.

I will dance on their grave when they are dead and burried. In fact I'll take that day off every year, and make it a tradition to have the biggest and baddest party to celebrate Telscums demise. I'll tell it to my children and to my childrens children, to remind them of the evil that is present in our world and they will celebrate that day every year, as the day that good triumphed over the EVIL, which is Telscum. May they rot in their graves and NEVER find peace in their afterlife, for they are not worthy of peace, tranquilaty or happiness.
