As I sit here writing this, I could commit murder I am so angry.

I placed my order on 30/11/05 and after much licking of gonads and kissing of backsides was finally given (NOTE: They didnt give it willingly, I had to pester them) an installation date of 19/01/2006. "Hang on", you might say, "But isnt that today?"

You would be correct. I took the day off work and have been waiting all day for a call or a Telkom van to arrive. I phones 0800 456 786 3 times yesteray to make sure it was still on for today. I phoned them at lunch time, trying to get the techies contacts. I phones them at 3pm to say that the techie still hadnt arrived. They assured me that techies work till 5.30 but if he hadnt arrived I should call back. (NOTE: 0800 456 786 knocks off at 4.30pm)

I phoned again at 4.25pm and was told the systems were down so they couldnt check on anything. I told the lady that she didnt need to check, the techie didnt arrive so what now?

She was most unhelpful so I asked to speak to her supervisor. She put me on hold for 5 mins. By this time they had all knocked off and the guys at 10219 answered my held call. I didnt realise this at first (silly me for not realising that I had been transfered to another department..)

The new lady at 10219 tried to reach 0800 456 786 in vain (I had to hold for another 5 mins while she tried). Then she came back all apologetic(some of Telkoms staff do have people skills) saying that no-one was there and she couldnt help me further. I then asked for the name and number of the person in CHARGE of ADSL installations. She said she would have to check if she was allowed to give out his number. (more holding)

She comes back and said she was allowed. His name is apparently one Nur Pieters and I have his office number in Cape Town. I tried but he was probably on the 18th hole.

So I will try him in the morning. If I he is indeed the head honcho I will publish his number here and then anyone who is STUFFED AROUND by Telkom not arriving when they say they will can harass him.

I am so MAD! I could sit here for half a lifetime waiting for Telkom to actually phone me, a customer, to let me know whats going on.

BTW, I have no landline at my new premises so all these calls are being made on my cellphone. Costing me a pretty packet.

The amount of money I have spent on my cellphone listening to Telkoms "please hold" music is enough to make me cry

This is so random, but I wonder who chooses the telkom elevator-telephone -you-must-wait-for-a-year-before-we-answer-your-call music....

Anyway, sorry about your...encounter. I think the person who agve you the number must have been really sorry she could not help you. I mean, going through all that trouble.

OK.

I had the same ***. nothing but lies from them. I took many days off, waiting for them. Call Phone Regional Customer Care Manager on 080 060 0126. Bitch and moan at them. They sorted my installation date out on the spot. Don't even try the normal numbers again. Phone 080600126. If you get someone you don't think cares, hang up and call again.

Regional Customer Care Manager. they're there to handle these sorts of complaints

Get an ARS number

Freshy, make sure you get an ARS number from that 0800-600-126 number. It is a high level complaint number. Without it you are screwed. Only five people work at that number, Ningi, Joe, Mervyn, Jane (?) and Rochelle. Speak to Rochelle as she is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh and by the way, I waited one week short of eight months for mine, so I understand about taking many days off work and no one arriving.

Phoned 0800 600 126. Seems there are 2 call centres at that number and there are more than 5 people. Spoke to Ilse. Told her my story and also told her to ad to my compliant the fact that ordering ADSL is generally a nightmare from start to finish. If Telkom want to be the only supplier then the very least they could do is have the systems in place to get a product to a client efficiently and effectively.

I got an ARS number. About an hour after I logged the complaint i got a call from someone else saying they were looking into it.

They have spent the whole day looking now and Im looking too.....for a EFFING Telkom van in my driveway.

Ars?????????????????????

Any suggestions to what the ARS stands for? Or do you think its an abbreviation of what the person we speak to says when we hang up after complaining?

I also had to wait months for Telkom to install my ADSL line. Had the same problem with them arranging an installation date and nobody showing up. Not even a phone call. Very frustrating. You would have thought that because of the high installation and monthly costs paid to Telkom for ADSL they would be more eager to install ADSL.

I get so angry every time I see a Telkom ad on TV or at the movies I feel like throwing something at the screen.

You can always tell how many people had similar experiences with Telkom ADSL in a movie theater by the curses you hear every time the TelkomInternet ad is shown.
