Telkom has reached a new level of customer (dis)satisfaction.

On the 17 September my phone line went dead. Reported fault like a good samaritan and got a response due to cable theft the phone lines will only be restored in December (checked bulk fault progress on their website).

Amazingly phone started working again a month later. I was very happy!! Until I reveived a phone call asking for a person that I dont know about. Oh well could be a wrong number.... Until I kept getting calls for that person 6-7 times in the same day I figured something wrong. Dialed my Cellphone and bam, I got someone else's line. Needless to say took another week to sort out.

On the 22 October phone started working properly with my number etc. Great, now to phone for credits to get the account sorted. 1 or 2nd November phone went dead again. Queried it, was disconnected due to non-payment... Non-Payment!!!! on a phone that wasnt working and an account that is waiting for credits to pass!!!

Went to Telkom Office, manually requested my Invoice (as i still didnt get my invoice with credits) and paid it in full since the instore invoice showed credits on my account.

Then comes November invoice and I get charged for reconnecting my phone service.... Believe me, I was fuming at that time, no problems, I will query it again.

Now the good part starts, get urself popcorn and coke.

I got a Call me from Telkom informing me I have to call them regarding my account. Lol, I got a call me SMS, unbelievable!!!!

So I call, and the person on the other line tells me credits have been passed, line has been suspended. They just do not seem to get it that the phone wasnt working, I had queries on my account and 7 days to send me an updated invoice isnt enough with snail mail. Continued arguing with the person for 5 mins until I got fed up and called for the supervisor. Supervisor not available, will call back. Great stuff!!

Supervisor calls back, once again same story appiles, argue argue argue, then she tells me she has to cut the call as they are not allowed to make long cellphone calls....and asks me to phone her back, on a long distance landline.....that I have to pay for now....

Called her back, no answer, called first lady back, asked to please transfer me to her supervisor, she doesnt know how to transfer calls...

Is there someone that can give me a contact number to a civil and smart thinking and understanding person in Telkom that can help me resolve the above query?

Thanks for reading

/end wall rant

Don't expect them to be too knowledgeable. Make sure you keep a reference of who you spoke to and time of call and follow up morning and afternoon. It would be best to have all your facts in point order and fax or email it to them because most Telkom employees are extremely slow and you will find you have to explain the same points every day prolonging the issue.

Good luck!!! You will need it.

Thanks Das-Dave, will give it a try and if successful, will let you know how it was resolved.

And people are wondering why violence is on the increase! Timken, your patience is certainly a lot better than mine at this stage. I live for the day when Telkom is no longer the dominant telecommunications "service provider".

Philip.
