Telkom DSL install Delay

Im waiting over 2 months now for telkom to come and install my ADSL line... do they realy take that long?

Is there any way to get the status of my order by emailing them as I can hold on for 30mins using the works phone... to get a status update?

I a telkom rep is hanging around please email me?
 
There is no Telkom rep on this forum. A telkom rep wouldn't be caught dead on this forum.

When I applied for ADSL, they took a monthb (they said they ran out of modems and are only getting newe ones next month). But the ADSL was already activated on my voice line as i have a voice line before applying.

Did you walk into a telkom store and asked them whatis going on? Walking in is better than phoning telkom
 
AFAIK, no official Telkom rep. I am involved in supporting TelkomInternet (so, your ISP, email, hosting account etc.), but I can't help/see anything regarding line issues (including ADSL activation, status etc.), and I can't really help on any activation issues for TelkomInternet accounts (only technical support escalations regarding TelkomInternet services - IOW, you need to give me a reference number if you want me to look at anything).

In fact, I'm phoning 10210 now to get an update on my ADSL activation order ....

BTW., you shouldn't necessarily need them to 'Install your ADSL line'. If you have a phone line, ADSL activation can normally be done much quicker than arranging a technician to visit your house and connect the router between the line and the phone while you are home. If you know what you are doing, it may be better (and cheaper) to do a self-install. In theory at least.

Would it be possible for you to help with my ADSL install? I have no voice line at home, Its going to be a fresh install....

They said to my dad when he ordered it, it'll be 6 to 8 weeks :wtf: :cry:

When I ordered my ADSL at Telkom they had to give me a new Voice Line and activate ADSL, they only took about a week and a half to do all that, I was very impressed.

Luckily I live near a Telkom Shop and went there every day to give them a speech to hurry up with the installation, dont keep your mouth shut when talking with them because as soon as they see that you are a "softie" they will never install your ADSL fast.
 
You shouldn't order an ADSL line. You order a telephone service and then add ADSL once the line is installed.

For some reason this makes things go faster.
 
My whole setup took 7 days, from no line to line installed and ADSL activated. Very impressed. But now, my router is connecting to my machine, but no internet access??

Have you activated your ADSL line with the telkom site using your order number ??
