Good day

I am in desperate need of assistance. I have recently upgraded my grandparents' desktop to Windows 10, as support is ending for it soon.
Unfortunately they are still using ISP email addresses provided by Telkom and haved refused to even consider using Gmail accounts for majorly ease of convenience.

Long story short, they used to have TWO email accounts as part of their original ADSL package but they upgraded their package to faster connection. Unfortunately this new one only offers ONE email account and not two.

Somehow they were able to setup this new one account with two aliases, AND have both aliases use SEPARATE inboxes. Now unfortunately I have absolutely no idea how this was managed. Because at the moment, if you send an email to one alias, the other alias receives it as well.

Some really janky but somehow functional method was done to have these two alias accounts behave as though they are two separate email accounts with separate inboxes. Please note also, that they are not willing to buy a second email account from Telkom, so I have to somehow make this work again.

Does someone have any ideas? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Please please, desperate for a solution.

Kind Regards

I get this sort of thing with elderly clients. I simply say "OK, now what name would you like to use for your new Gmail account? And your favourite password?" And just let that hang in the air...
Honestly, just tell your grandparents that Telkom will be ending their email service in the not-too-distant future, so anything you do to try and prolong their clinging on will be pointless.

They just dowload the same email account twice, you can maybe add rules to try separate mailboxes, best bet is to use 2nd account tho.

I've tried to use rules but it turned out to be an extremely unstable solution. This is what I tried: I tried to create two separate rules for each alias, which forwards email incoming to a Gmail account respectively, thus bypassing the ISP email altogether. It works for one alias but the moment I create a second rule for the other alias, it crashes and says there is an error with the rules.

I tried another rule that would automatically delete a duplicate email that is sent to the second alias, but that also did not work.

Unfortunately like I said, my hands are tied. They will not purchase a second account or move to Gmail. You see, because whatever this previous solution was, to them it worked.

And now to make matters even worse, I noticed that after I setup the email aliases on Outlook, the address book / contacts, is not present. So I thought okay, I will go and fetch it from the backup I created. I used a second empty drive and cloned the all the contents exactly as is.

Now, when I tried to boot back into the clone / backup (Windows 7), it decides not to boot. So I used booting software to force create a boot entry into the boot manger to try and get back in. Guess what, now suddenly I can't boot into either Windows. Clever me also formatted the bootable USB and I can't access the second drive where the ISO files are saved.

@leviathan1701 if you are using Outlook, Rules will be your friend. If you are using two separate Outlook profiles create a rule per profile that says if sent to <other profile email address> do not download.

If you are using one profile create a rule saying if sent to A send to A folder. And of course if sent to B send to B folder.

I know a guy named Giuseppe who can arrange you a new identity and get you out the country.

Your solution has done the trick. I decided to go with using two separate profiles and create rules for both. You are an absolute star!! Thank you so much :)
