Anyone perhaps have contacts for Telkom Escalations? I've had such bad service the past few months with them that i'm about to Hellopeter them, not that it will help i guess.

how long is it suppose to take Telkom to transfer your existing telephone line / DSL to another address within the same area?

I've advised them about it the 22nd October and now they only advised of an installation date of the 20/11/2012. So paying for a service which you're unable to use is normal for Telkom?

Any assistance / direction would be appreciated.

Usually takes 30 days. If you notify them a day before your move then you'll be out of luck. It's also dependant of your area, it's not just a transfer, it's treated as a new installation. So they need to go through all the checks and balances again.

If there's a line in the current place then it shouldn't take longer than 7 working days, but the technicians has to go out and do survey/site visit to see if everything is still 100% (and/or fix something if it's not) etc.

The installation date they gave you is according to their SLA, so doesn't mean it will take that long

Try Hello Peter. I did and my complaints was escalated the same day as far as I remember and started getting calls within two days from various departments to get the problems sorted out. So it seems like Hello Peter is actively monitored and that things are acted on quickly.

Hope you get sorted.

Thing is, there's a telephone line installed, it's definitely in the same area, i advised in advance as to when i'm moving, i also thought it shouldn't take longer than a week for them to transfer it. I understand they have to do their normal checks ect, don't have a problem with it, just dont understand why it's going to take approx 5 weeks to get it sorted.

Thanks will give it a try. Maybe someone who can help actually responds. Not even walking into a Telkom Direct store and 3 days in a row is getting me anywhere.

I have a lot of patience, but the cup is almost empty!

I explained the "why". Their SLA says 30 days (AFAIK) and their system puts it as that even though they may service it sooner.
