Telkom ever going to upgrade lines?

I heard that Telkom are supposedly planning on upgrading everyone's line speed.

So if you are on 384 you go to 512 and 512 you go to 1 or 4MB and so on.

Is this ever going to happen? Will I be dressing up as Santa again before I see this? :p

I am on a 384 line and considering upgrading to a 4MB (512 doesnt seem like a worthwhile jump), is it worth the extra R260 odd SA Rond?

I doubt telkom are going to up any lines anytime soon.

Well, considering it's a more than 10fold increase, I'd say so. I don't see Telkom upgrading 384 anytime soon as they are absolute anuses.
 
384 is Telkom's "hook the new ADSL customer" product.
They have absolutely zero incentive to remove it, as there are enough new clients that upgrade to the much more expensive options all by themselves, and, when pressure is applied to telkom to provide lower cost ADSL services, they point at the 384 service and smile.

A business case can be made to Telkom that proves that an internet user having a bigger line will use more bandwidth and will therefore pay more through increased usage, but with the advent of MWeb Uncapped and other Uncapped products into arena, that case becomes even more difficult to prove than before.

i.e. No incentive to upgrade 384 users to anything else whatsoever for free at all.

Very good points from you both. Upgrade to 4MB it is then. I look forward to a decent line, I am SO sick of slow internet. :p
