LIES? They are ripping off customers by not informing them that a (supposedly) landline number is in fact a Neotel number. One then gets charged. For all other cases e.g. low balance etc, there are IVR messages. HOW CAN TELKOM NOT KNOW THAT A NUBER IS NOT ON THEIR NETWORK....so will attract charges? ICASA needs to wake up.

I dot see the issue. IVR messages are annoying. Why should users be informed that they are now calling a "provider name here" number? As a customer, that has no relevance to me.

This whole thing is ambiguous. What exactly does the Telkom Free Me Social media data cover? Is it only viper and Whatsapp? Or does it also cover other social media platforms? My Freeme data went from 500MB to 291 MB in just 2 weeks and i only have Whatsapp.. I don't think Whatsapp can do that especially since It never loaded videos ( for that time period anyway ) but i also use Facebook and Twitter so does that count for the FreeMe social media promo?

If anyone knows then please help. I have sent a few emails to Telkom's help centre but those seem like dead mail.
I couldn't find help from their website either,....

Does anyone know if the data included in Free Me include the roaming data on MTN when not in Telkom covered areas?

Did you get this resolved?

I'm keen to switch from Vodacom to FreeMe at the end of the month. How's it been treating you otherwise?

I did the switch in September from vodascum best decision ever and was very happy.
Since gone to mtn and been impressed.
Unless you load the 20g freeme you'll need to load separate airtime for calls to non telkom numbers.
In some areas had to keep phone on 3g roaming on mtn to have decent internet speeds.

And is the coverage decent for calls?

If you have it on roaming, does it still come off your normal data allocation or is there some downside?

No downside to roaming on calls and data.
When i got it data speed was 80mb at home, steadily dropped to 15mbs.
On roaming mtn in same location constant 30mbs. Lte on mtn 70 plus speeds

There should be an app for that ! A custom dialer that gets the name of the operator from www.porting.co.za and warns you.
