I see that Telkom are advertising their adsl specials with only a certain price being given. Were there not a law passed that stated that any advertisement must give full disclosure re: any hidden costs(normal phone line rental, etc), and not hidden in some obscure t&c document.

Any feedback on this would be most interesting.

their advertisements I've see on tv does include the warnings, you just need to use your eyes

Telkom is practically synonymous with false advertising.

Not surprising though, they would look even more ridiculous to the untrained eye if they advertised their products accurately.

imagine telkom's top end offering : MediocreDSL : 0.5 - 3.5mbps down, 0.1 - 0.4mbps up. **

* no uptime guarantee, if your line is down indefinitely the only option you have is to cancel your line.
* A handful of select locations are on the faster side of our previous generation network, and offer DecentDSL : 5 - 8mbps down, 0.1 - 0.9mbps up.

@AcidRazor...I uderstand what you`re saying.I`m trying to figure out if the way they are advertising their prices they are following the law.

Correct me if `m wrong but were`nt there an issue regarding cellphone contracts a couple of years back,ok more than a couple of years, re: contract prices (eg: advertising a contract for R99 pm and subscribers getting an invoice with lots of mandatory services which would take the contract amount to R140 pm for example). It was found to be unlawful and companies advertising was told to put the full amount, including the charges for the mandatory services, on the advertisements ie. full disclosure.

I do remember for a short period of time advertising was changed to reflect that outcome. But they`ve been back at it for quite a while now.Has the legislation changed in the interim, that`s all i`m asking.

I posted my story on that "another funny telkom story thread"

Telkom is always false advertising.
