Telkom Fast / ADSL slow

I've upgraded my 384 account with Telkom to 4mb.
Called them this morning around 10am and at +- 3pm my modem was syncing at 4096. I was very impressed with the fast response from Telkom, until I started surfing the web.
My line seems slower now, 384 seemed to run at full speed and I could watch streaming video online no problem, but now its extremely slow and video is stuttering.
I ran a few of the speed tests on myadsl and got these results:
Telkom: 30357 kbps
iBurst: 790 kbps
Sentech: 676 kbps

Broadband Reports: 101 kbps
Stanford: 195 kbps

Google ping: 393ms
Myadsl ping: 250ms

Is this normal for my connection? It seems extremely slow.

Seems odd for the line but not in terms of my own experience. You have to remember though that streaming quality mostly depends on the originating source and their connectivity...

Check tomorrow and see if it still bugs out. try a London test on www.speedtest.net and see if there is improvement...

Speedtest.net did not load so I tried ZDNet(UK)'s test.
Results:

395.7 Kbps

48.5 K bytes/sec


My SAIX (Telkom) account does not authenticate anymore. (cannot connect)
The ZDNet test was done on WebAfrica prepaid acc.

Try switching the modem/router off for about 15 minutes and turn it back on, sometimes that helps, I'm currently connected to telscum SAIX, but they've been having authentication issues lately, if you can't connect tomorrow, phone telscum and log a fault, don't go the crappy procedure of double checking this or resetting and blah blah blah, just tell them to log a fault and get a reference number
