What's the best option for FTTH if I have to go with openserve?

The service providers that do not tie you to a 2 year contract... or the one that gives you free installation.

I chose Webafrica, my line stopped working once and they sorted it out in 2 days (Telkom Openserve put in a new fibre line)

What line and data do you have? They seem to have the best deals. Is it unshaped?

I picked the 100mbps option, best bang for buck (although I would probably not realise if it is only 40mbps)
To be honest I use VOX for my data, signed up with the 150GB Fatpipe promotion. Now up to 200GB... with rollover I have more than 1TB available.

I am on WebAfrica's smallest data package...think it is R35/pm and I use this for a backup.
I signed a 2 year contract initially and paid the R1700 installation fee, these days it seems like WA does not charge it any more?
Seems like the Vox line charge is cheaper per month...

Do you get full speed on the Fatpipe account? Every VOX support person I've spoken to claims that the Fatpipe product is "not optimized for fibre, and therefore the performance can vary". They want you to switch to fibre, but don't offer data-only products for fibre.
I find the video streaming on Fatpipe to be very patchy, it appears to be heavily shaped.

I have a 40Mbps line with ISPAfrika and 400gig day cap with uncapped night data from Afrihost for R1098pm. So far I have mot seen any of my speed tests drop below 38Mbps.

What more do you need.

Do all AH capped accounts have the after hours uncapped?

For my kind of usage:

Afrihost 200Gig Capped @ R399.00
Afrihost Plus @ R99.00
ISP Afrika 100Meg line rental @ R729.00
400Gig cap between 6:00am to 11:30pm with uncapped afterhours @ R1227.00

If my maths is correct that seems not too bad..

Youtube is fine, I cancelled my netflix so I cannot comment.
Last speedtest I did was 93/23 Mbps

I have a similar question. I want to choose a fibre package specifically from Telkom.

I currently have uncapped 10 Mbps ADSL. Would it make sense to migrate to a 20 Mbps fibre line with a 250 GB softcap? Assuming that all huge downloads will be done during night surfer hours?

Check your monthly usage. That will be the only way to know for sure. After that you can quite easily work out usage per day and any additional bandwidth requirements that you may need. Also just FYI: Try and stay away from telkom as a ISP. I know they have many happy customers, but they also have many, many unhappy customers.

Thanks! Will go and check now

You should pad (add 10%-30%) to your current usage if you're planning on scaling your speed upwards. Since most services will automatically buffer at higher speeds thus using more data. Unless you're actively managing all your streaming services, this will result in a higher usage during any given month.

Will do. I actually only stream music intensively (Deezer).
