Telkom Fibre and Static IP configuration

Hi,

Has someone managed to get the static IP capability provided by Telkom Internet to work?

From the link below, seems the DLink DSL-G225 router Telkom provides cannot accommodate this:

We also use a Ubiquiti EdgePro router here and we cannot get it to work either.

Any pointers and have someone had success in getting to to work without Cisco routers having to be procured?

Is this MetroE fibre or FTTH fibre?

Hi,

I guess FTTH - directly from Telkom and Telkom Internet as the ISP
They upgraded our ADSL to Fibre when it became available, and I know OpenServe was involved to get everything in place.

Yeah so with the FTTH types of links you would need to tunnel over the PPPoE session to somewhere which would then provide you with a static IP, or range. There are many routers that support L2TP if that is the required method of tunnel.

I will be very surprised if Telkom as an ISP is offering this solution though.

Axxess accounts can have fixed IPs without the whole tunnel requirement.

Yes so this would be a fixed IP, so you would only get 1 fixed IP to use. you would need to tunnel if you want access.
