Telkom FTTH maximum speed?

Quick question.

Currently Telkom's FTTH is limited to 100 Mbps.

But does the actual infrastructure allow for faster speeds in the future and up to what speed?

It is GPON tech, so the max profile download is like 1Gbps (may be slightly wrong)... Not withstanding exchange backhaul limitations though.
 
GPON backhaul to the main access points is 2.5Gbps usually split between about 64 people (can be 16/32 etc.).

The problem with congestion will most certainly lie at the exchanges, if it is to occur.

2.5Gbps per strand. Vodacom are pulling a 72 strand bundle into our estate. That gives you a whole lot of room for growth
