Hi

This is a bit off topic for this forum, but maybe somebody can point me in the correct direction.

Do TELKOM not guarantee delivery of a normal Landline within 14 days? Is this monitored by ICASA? If they dont deliver within 14 days (I am now on day 18) where do I complain?

Thanks

I think you made a typo... "14 years" .. not "14 days"

well waited just over 4 weeks for an land line, so no 14 day thing i think the 14 day thing are with repairs on your line if its totally dead...

Keep pushing. You HAVE to keep emailing, visiting the Telkom DirectShop and make calls every 3-4 days. Being aggressive is the only way until Telkom have competition.

Got one of the techs in our areas cell number got a new line in under 14 days but it involved getting 3 techs and electrician out.

I think 6 weeks is more realistic for a new landline unless you cross someone's palms

No such guarantee. 14 days sounds like the minimum amount of time it will take, but you could end up waiting for months.

Well they were at my house in less than three days, but unfortunately they have to install a pole on my premises, so it is going to take longer. The telkom people says I should expect to wait 30 days...

1. Do TELKOM not guarantee delivery of a normal Landline within 14 days?
2. Is this monitored by ICASA?
3. If they dont deliver within 14 days (I am now on day 18) where do I complain?

Residential service, i assume?

1. No
2. Yes. The measurement is based on an annual mean time to install and not individual installations.
3. Via the Telkom escalation process that going to ICASA as the last step. If you skip straight to the last step ICASA will push you back to step 1 in the process.

Write your complains on a piece of paper and burn it at 12:00 AM and hope some godly power answers your prayers.

But seriously, as far as I know they can't guarantee 14 days, cause they are useless but there could actually be infrastructure problems (Their fault actually). As for ICASA monitoring, its like me saying If I look up at the stars at night I monitor the universe (It doesn't really mean anything). As for complaining the Telkom escalation process would be the best bet but that it seems is also a best effort service.
