I have no more hope that Telkom will do anything without being forced to.

I'm pinning my hopes on GTS PLC or Neotel CDMA2000/ADSL2+

But, the big question remains whether they will just be another CellC.

At least GTS has the funding but do they exist?

They won't reduce prices anymore because it will eat into their ISDN revenue. There's no way that they will allow ADSL to be cheaper than ISDN.

Such arrogance from Steve Hayward [the same Hayward that invented the "Chinese Maths" racial slur] - this crap from Telkodemonopolies makes my blood boil and makes me wish that Telkodemonopolies loses 90% of its ADSL customers over the next 5 years - unlikely to happen but I can dream...

For Broadband Internet. Agreed.

There are still other uses like PABX Systems where you need a pure digital signal for those telephone systems.
I was quite surprised as I did not know this until I enquired about a new phone system around my business premises and the guy installing must first convert my line to ISDN.

Yeah from a broadband perspective, however ISDN still has its applications. Regardless, they don't care as long as they're still making loads of cash from it. If they price ADSL lower than ISDN then they are effectively killing off one of their revenue sources. They would no longer be able to make a fortune off the dial-up charges.

ADSL has been around since 1989 [internationally that is - not in SA] - not as old as ISDN, but ADSL is still quite old.

if only icasa or gov forced dial up calls to be free.. I mean then Telkom would have to seriously make adsl better. Then again they own the pops too mostly :S
