Telkom has big problems
Telkom is in deep financial trouble. Its net debt increased by 19.3%, free cash flow declined by 30.9%, and net debt to EBITDA increased from 1.2 to 1.8. [Daily Investor]

Are enough ANC cadres still involved for it to get a bailout? Time to let all those useless socialist workers go if not.

The scary thing to consider is that telkom is doing well compared to the rest of the anc portfolio

Since the 1980's. Kept afloat by first NP corruption then ANC corruption. One thing SA'ns can rely on: there will always be the farkup called Telkom.

Apart from Telkom’s mobile [and fibre] division,

As long as they can keep the mobile (fixed LTE) lights on, then okay, otherwise will be forced to go back to MTN fixed, with worse conditions* & higher rates .... or fibre at more than double for far less Mbps (but obviously uncapped which is the main benefit).

* = MTN worse because :
Night data ends 1 or 2 hours before Telkom's at 7am ;
Fixed with MTN means a "fixed address" & can't move it as freely as with Telkom ;
Only certain routers allowed, though currently have 2 still functioning.

I would hate to have to choose only between MTN and Vodacom. Cellc and Telkom should remain around.

The thing is, if Telkom went under (please don't, muh mobile contract!) not all that many people will notice.
500 000 fibre users and the national backbone network disagree. ISP's reselling disagree.
