Hi

I have had a problem with Telkom

You see I have ADSL at home and a normal land line number ,all on one telephone line.
about three weeks ago the telephone stopped working. (no dial tone)
after checking all cables I called the call center
they said they will send a technician over to check my line.

A day later the technician arrived
Now bear in mind only the telephone is not working, the ADSL is fine (syncing perfectly)

So the technician checks my telephone tells me there is a problem at the exchange
she says she is going to the exchange to fix the problem

Line Status now: ADSL still working the telephone not.

When she leaves and comes back to verify that my telephone is working and can make calls
Good news for me the telephone is working but the dumb ass effed up the ADSL.

Line status: Telephone working ADSL dead.

I then inform the technician while she was at my house that the ADSL is not working ever since she went to the exchange. she said that she was going to the exchange to fix the ADSL

She never came back or fixed the ADSL

Now I am waiting 3 weeks for a technician to fix my ADSL
I have called the ADSL helpline (0860-375-375) every day for the past 3 weeks for answers.
they keep reporting a fault but nobody is coming to fix it.

What should I do does any body have any Ideas:confused:

Thanks

Wow, this is truly one of the worst stories. The lady literally just didn't come back? W-t-f...

Alright, time to play hardball.

Call 1012 and not 0860...and report a problem again. They will probably open a fault.
Alright, next, EMAIL telkom support to check on your ADSL status on their telkom page and in this report. Include your phone #.
Alright, next, find a Telkom Direct Shop in your area. Drive there and complain IN PERSON that your technician bailed on you and you logged numorous faults and no one is helping you. Demand to speak to a manager if nothing is solved after a few days. Tell them this is IMPORTANT and you need it for work,(waiting for 3 weeks is a nightmare)
Alright, next, if nothing happens after a few days...You EMAIL telkom support and tell them you will submit this claim to ICASA if not solved in X days.
If nothing happens after another 2-3 days. You go ahead and file a claim with ICASA and check with ICASA for the status via phone calling.

You can also try to PM someone named 'Sting' on this forums and ask for his opinion on what to do. Keep us updated, this is just not right in anyway shape or form...

And remember, next time a technician pays you a visit, take down his/her name and other details. Hell, maybe take a picture of him as well. Then you hopefully have enough to keep him from bailing again :D

The exact same thing happened to me! When I phoned them they said if the fault is my phone I will have to pay a call out fee so I've been waiting to get a new phone, our phone is really old.

Since it happened to someone else I'll phone them again, my line also went down about 2/3 weeks ago, it happened the same day they activated my ADSL

Yes on the same day the adsl was connected about an hour latrer the line went dead.I live in primrose germiston and yeah everything in my house is still here.I think I will go to the Telkom Direct store in greenstone and give them another 10 fault reporting calls .
At least im not the only person with the same problem Pupkin King did you get your problem sorted out if so how did you do it.
