Telkom Helpdesk... AGAIN

I've told them Marconi, and Billion before and its made no difference to the line of questioning.

Have you actually tried phoning the telkom adsl line? If you phone from a land line, an automated voice asks you to confirm if this is the line with the problem. If not it askes you to key in the correct 10 digit number. Phoning from a Cell phone always asks to key in the 10 digit number. When you are finally connected through to a help desk "consultant" They ask you for the number again. So my problem with the system is that is a waste of time and money.. At least right now it is

Oh and Lycanthrope.. I was seriously thinking of doing that LOL.. But I think if they get a call out tomorrow to say the line has been stolen.. I'd be the first one on their hitlist. I might try putting up a massive metal rod on the pole during the next lightning storm though :D
Yes I have and have been sorted out quite well.

Both the above are indeed Telkom modems. I imagine if you have a Billion 10 and they use a Billion 11, then you have a common solution.

Well then you would understand that the system in place doesn't work. Regardless if all the networks actually use the same like of questioning, The telkom system is faulty. Discovery health has a simular system were you need to key in your medical aid number, and it works? The consultant asks to confirm if your number is correct, Not asks you to repeat it because they dont know what it is and you wasted 5 min keying the stupid thing in for the automated system

My reason for telling them those modems is because I know thats what they use. But it does not change the CC questioning which tells me they are all idiots who just read a scripted piece of paper. Plus if they kept correct records, then my modem should be listed from the 600 other calls over the last 5 years

I can not understand how the make of the modem will make a difference to a dead line. If the lines dead its dead......... No matter what modem/router you have. They need to add a section in to thier script that reads. If problem with line is = to dead line, ignore modem type, Check system to confirm.

EDIT: I think my problem is that I do have a cable that is faulty, due to this I have to phone them at least once a month if not more (unless somebody wants to steal my cable as suggest by the tech for me). Having to deal with the idiot CC once in a blue moon isn't that bad, But do it often enough and you want to shoot somebody

Just realised this afternoon as I got home that I was wearing my "MyADSL" shirt today. I wonder if that was the reason I got such a friendly tech :D
