Telkom Installation Help

I applied at the Telkom Direct shop for a telephone line installation. I already have a line at my flat, but I have no idea when last it was used or when it was disconnected (just started renting). The staff were friendly and processed the line installation just fine. I only applied for the phone line, I will do the ADSL self installation, so I can have the line and data through someone other than Telkom.

The Technician came out Friday the 20th March. He checked the line, and did his thing, but then came back and said there is a problem with the underground cabling, he said Telkom's cabling technicians will have to come and inspect it.

Now, how do I proceed? I have no additional information, and I would like to contact someone to get an appointment or some further information. And of course their call center is in shambles, so that is a dead end.
 
My Telkom tech let the Cabling tech know about me needing underground cables after he came out.
Maybe yours will do the same.. hopefully!

He came out the Friday, and they came out the Saturday, dig up the lawn and laid some cable. Then the tech came back the Monday and connected everything.
 
The tech said he would do that and that they should be out to us on Monday, but no show. I am sure he did let them know, he was very friendly, it would just be nice if there was something else one could do, or someone to phone.

Another question, if the cabling guys come out, do they charge extra on the installation?
I applied for the R187 a month phone line because you get free installation.
 
FreeInstallation, nothing you can do really, unless you wanna call them, LOL.

Plus they have no chill, they just check if you live there and start digging... give them some cooldrink though -if it's hot.
 
Update. I contacted Telkom via Twitter and Facebook. They helped me out quickly. The cables were repaired some time last week, and a technician was sent out for Friday, Tech pitched up saturday though (overtime is great). Line installed, so great success.

Applied for adsl line through afrihost, but my telkom phone line is reporting as inactive, so I will need to go to Telkom Direct to varify the phone number.
