Someone please help, recently I have been having problems with my Internet, and the people at the call Centre kept on issuing new user names and passwords, which worked for an hour then stopped. Now when I've checked my bill it's over 5 grand and when I logged a complaint with telkom accounts they told me it was rejected, what should I do, I'm paying for 4 accounts that don't even work and I don't even use

Help!!!

Sounds as if somebody hacked your router and stole your username/password credentials, then abused those.

Afrihost/Mweb (I don't know about others) have the ability to "lock" your ADSL account to your line/phone number, so it cannot be used on another line without having to jump through a couple of hoops.

Our Telkom line was hacked this month, R1400 of international calls.
But if I try calling international numbers it says my "line is blocked for that destination"

Best part Telkom had to absorb that because on my phone account it states international call baring is enabled.

Check for unknown calls as well.....

Did you change your default username/password (the ones to gain access to the router)?

Phone them again and insist to speak to a supervisor. Refuse to end the call with the problem unresolved. Screaming seems to help.

My line was down for 3 months and only came back up 3 weeks ago. Started using the internet when bam, disconnected for outstanding balance on my account. Phoned Telkom, asked to have my balance reimbursed as I refuse to pay an account for which I didn't have service. They logged a dispute and activated me again so I was sorted.

Very next day same thing .. disconnected for non-payment.

Phoned them in a rage to find out my dispute was rejected, they cannot reduce the outstanding balance as my fault hasn't offically been closed yet. Asked to speak to a supervisor, he acknowledged that the outstanding amount doesn't reflect the reimbursement for my downtime and that they 'should have protected the account'. I insisted that he does the reimbursement right then & there as I keep getting disconnected for non-payment because Telkom cannot keep to its word.

Was online for about 2 hours with the guy, but at the end of the call my line was working again and my account was reimbursed for my downtime.

Unfortunately that same fault of mine is still open as my line died again on Sunday afternoon. Telkom indicated a 'bulk fault' so who the **** knows how long I'll be offline this time ..

This is what happened in January, my line was really slow, was getting 0.3 mbps on a 4mb line and they could not figure out what the problem was, then I tried out an mweb account and it worked so I got a lady to give me a new username and password and she said she will cancel the other one which she did not , later the same month around the 25th it stopped working again and 3 other people gave me new usernames and passwords. They obviously didn't cancel the old accounts and that's how my bill is so high. They refuse to change my bill...

Obviously if I have one telkom line why would I want 3 of the same accounts, can't they use their brains? Any how is my only solution to phone and demand to speak to the supervisor?
They can check the logs I've probably used like 15mbs on those other accounts before they stopped working

No use changing user names & passwords on router if done on a pc, where some kind of key logger s/w has been installed, coz it's recording the new stuff anyway, best is to reformat the hard drive & start afresh....

Why would you need to change your username/password every time the account goes bonkers? Seems somebody's been fooling around with account profiles and screwing things up...

Someone please help me find a solution to get them to reduce my account plz

I ain't paying 5000 for something I didn't even ask for or used for that matter

Go to a Telkom service center, and explain the problem, as pgs already stated. It's useless arguing with any Telkom employee over the phone, you'll get nowhere. You'll have to talk to someone in person.
