Telkom internet proxy?

Hey guys. I have a problem with Telkom and ****ing SAIX. I have no proxy right but still if I browse I get a 198.xxx ip but my true ip is 41.244.xxx so wtf? I have read something about that traffic goes through a cache proxy on SAIX side. So you wanna tell me that the whole South Africa gets the same cache proxy IP? I cant download anything. Everywhere I go it says your ip is allready downloading a file. This include Rapidshare and megaupload.

This is not fair. I hope telkom die die die!
 
I still would love to know how exactly they implement this. I've played a little with proxies, and they can get very complex. Must also be some pretty huge and powerful and big systems to handle the load of a country.
 
Well, yes from what I understand of the situation, SAIX routes all traffic through transparent proxies. Some websites (the good ones) will tell you your actual IP (go to www.robtex.com and they'll tell you your actual 41.244.x.x IP ;)) whereas others (I remember Paradigm Solutions as an example) tell you the 198.x.x.x IP which is most likely the SAIX transparent proxy IP.

There are more than one though :p I get the exact same thing when I go to Rapidshare 9 times out of ten, I get told that my IP is already downloading something so I have to wait... There are some options though, you could find a list of SAIX transparent proxies and try until you find one that works, or I know that there is a RapidShare downloader somewhere, I think it helps you get around the wait; I don't remember what it's called though :p
 
i had a huge fight with IS a whiile ago. i tried to dl a 4 gb file from a server we own in the us. the connection got bumped the whole time. so i had to setup a port 85 webserver. they only proxy port 80 traffic. at first nobody knew what i was talking about till i sent them reget logs of the connecition. it states nicely :

Via: 1.1 nc1-rba (NetCache NetApp/6.0.3)

thus.. beware.. big brother may be logging...

Are you crazy! Im not Bill Gates. If I had an uncapped account maybe. But yet again with our curancy getting weaker everyday I doubd that I will be able to afford that! :)

by setting up the port 85 webserver... are you still able to browse as normal? i urgently need a workarounf telkoms transparent proxy...any suggestions?
 
how do i create a webserver? i have ipcop... is there a plugin?
