Telkom Internet scam warning

Telkom has sent out an alert which warns its subscribers about a scam which targets telkomsa.net email account holders.

“A fraudulent email is being sent informing telkomsa.net email account users that their account was deleted,” Telkom said.

Not like they would receive the email....

Following the news and SMS that there is a scam email on the Telkomsa.net server I experience that the web portal is mostly unreachable. The SMS stated that scams can be sent to [email protected] but the emails are only returned also the Support email do not answer back. Emails only started come through around 10 this morning since 5pm yesterday.

The telkomsa.net mailserver is in a class of its own.

Emails only started come through around 10 this morning since 5pm yesterday.

I do not agree with your statement that no emails came through from 5pm yesterday till 10am this morning. I sent and received email last night without a problem.

Technically probably true, but not the correct way to word it. It is simply a fraudulent email doing the rounds targeting telkomsa.net clients (probably not exclusively - I have a few of them in my spam box on non-telkomsa.net domains).

I experience that the web portal is mostly unreachable.

It loads for me, but I have not logged in though.

Telkom email is unfortunately like a yoyo. I often get errors when accessing my email.

Hence my disclaimer. I just find it weird that they are using an American Domain host? Was it the norm back in the day?
