Telkom Internet Tracker problem

The problem with the usage tracker might be related to the following email from Telkom:

Dear Subscriber

Due to TelkomInternet constant quest to improve our service to you, we will be executing system maintenance. This will regrettably, result in service interruption.

The downtime period will be Saturday evening the 17 May 2008 from 21:00 till Sunday 18:00 on the 18 May 2008.

Users already accessing the Internet will not be impacted, and you will be able to connect to the Internet. However, you will not be able to send and retrieve any Email during this period. Our websites: webmail.telkomsa.net, the DSL tracker and top-up sites will also not be available during this period.

Please feel free to contact our technical support call centre on 10215 should you have any queries in this regard.

Once again, apologies for the inconvenience caused by this exercise and we ask that you to be patient whilst we work towards improving our service to you.

Regards

TelkomInternet Technical support

My ISP has never left me stranded. Never.

So you're ISP never makes "improvements", your service has never been slightly interrupted?

I find that hard to believe.

I'm not stranded. I'm online right now using my Telkom account. I just can't receive email from the Demonopoly for a few hours, check usage etc. Basically internet access is fully functional, Telkom specific services are not.

They have redundant servers. Obviously no-one can supply 100% online time. However, they do have a 99.97% online record. That converts to 1.1hours of downtime each year.

<500th post, yay!>

maybe , I'm not even going to try phoning them though , its useless.

Not maybe, that's the reason.

froot, you're a bit irritating if you don't mind me saying so, but I'm saying it because that's how I feel.

You know with all these cockups that telkom is doing with our usage data, how do we know that what they say is the correct amount of data that we used. Get PWC in and do a complete transperant public audit and then we will believe that Tit-Racker is correct.

Now it reads:

We are currently experiencing technical problems and our technical team is currently attending to the problem.

I think that it should rather read: We are currently experiencing technical problems WITH our technical team and is currently trying to figure out what the problem is. :D

Actually I do mind you saying so, because from all the posts where we have been involved, I can't figure out why. PM me if you have a problem with that.

All of my details are at zero, usuage at zero. Etc been like that for a few days now

Our details have been like this for the last 3 months.. everything is on zero- however the e-mail alerts are correct
