I exist only in my own mind ...
Latest Telkom rip off. These Ars_h_l_s are now CHARGING for service calls! They also make sure that "Your call will be answered" outside of 10 minutes.

What a fsucking rip off. Roll on Feb 2005, I can't wait to get rid of this crappy unprofessional bunch of wankers!

Appologies to meek among you for hard language.

Sadly, this does not surprise me, just out of interest what are the numbers being changed from 0800 to 0860, and does that include "toll-free" numbers like 10217, 10219, 10210 etc?

When did/does this start?

Dunno when it started. It's just that Telkom email was seriously broken, so I decided to phone support. The only 0800 number available was SAIX and they said that all Telkom support is now 0860, which is confirmed if you look at their contact numbers.

Telkom must be seriously scared to go this kind of route, it's like the cheapest of cheapskate tricks I've seen.

BTW the support call took 48mins and I'm still waiting to be informed of the problem which has been miraculously fixed.

So, if you try dialing one of the 0800 numbers, there will be a one-way conversation telling you to dial an 0860 number instead?

Maybe you should go and see Telkom in person... with a sledge hammer?

Sadly, this does not surprise me either. At least they're consistant.
I neglected to follow the end of the thread that dealt with Infinitecall being cancelled. I wonder if someone could tell me if its not being offered to new lines.
I'm moving in a coupla months. If i can't get infinitecall, its not worth having ISDN anymore, might as well get adsl then.

No idea, but I did take the plunge on Thursday & cancelled my InfinitCall, now I just need to decide if I'm gonna exchange my ISDN line for HomeDSL384 (in a high lightning strike zone...?) and only use iBurst at my Sandton office.

What to do...I know, just wait until February has been & gone, then decide.

Thanks. I think i'll b sticking with isdn128 then. For afterhours d/l of large amounts of data, its unfortunately still the best option, i think.
I don't think i'd handle being capped

Telkom stooped even further.

Another nail in their coffin.

A person can fool some people all of the time. He may even fool all the people some of the time. But you can never, ever, fool the Members of MyADSL and the supporters of Hellkom.

This is a perfect example of how Telkom will try to evade price controls. This should be submitted to ICASA as a formal complaint.

Indeed.

Take into account MyADSL still awaits a satisfactory answer from ICASA on the MyADSL Complaint Re ADSL.
How long is this Complaint outstanding now?
The only gesture Telkom made so far was keeping line rentals unchanged and introducing the 384 package at a cheaper line rental.
A step in the right direction, but hardly enough if SA wants to play in the big league with online shopping etc.
Telkom has priced ADSL out of the reach of the average person in SA.
A foolish attitude which competition later will jump at.
Besides what sort of revenues could SA be getting from Online Marketing? Billions!
But we are held back by a few greedy shareholders and the government being one of them, with their attitude of silent diplomacy.

A sorry but true story.
