Finally I have found a place to vent my anger. I am newbie poster so please bare with me. I'm sure I'm not the first to experience this in Telkom's chequered and pathetic service history, but its just such a disgrace. Are there any other options?
I ordered an ADSL line for my home/office about a month ago, and was told by the consultant that the exchange was ADSL ready, and there were plenty ports available (I had be pre-warned). After 3 weeks of 45min call waiting episodes to 10217, 0800456786, etc. having the phone slammed down on me, having complete morons on the other end...blah blah blah. I finally managed to get a semi-coherant person on the other end, who told me that there were 'NO AVAILABLE PORTS'. My next question was obviously, "When would the said ports become available" to which 2 weeks later I still have no answer. I have escalated this call many time and on many different platforms from Internet to "Manager" (which you can never directly speak to, of course)
This has adversely affected my business because I have already left my old premises in order ro set up my home/office, and now find myself without any connection. Why or Why are the Telkom fools so incompetant? Do any of you out there know how I may find out when ports will be available on my exchange? I have been told that there is a roll-out underway, but no-one is willing to commit to when this "supposed" rollout began, or when it is likely to finish. Any help would be much appreciated, as I'm at the end of my tether. I feel like John Q, and may hold a Telkom Staffer hostage until my demands are met. This is a very sad situation, but Telkom have practically ruined my business in like a month.
