Long story short:

1. They stole our ADSL line for the 3rd time this year, in February, and Telkom wouldn't replace it.
2. We installed a wireless link directly to the exchange at our expense so we could still have ADSL, with Telkom's permission: works da bomb!
3. Because there were 10 people on the line, Telkom had it registered on their system as a bulk fault - we could never log a fault with the DSLAM, or anything else because the original ticket was never closed.
4. On Tuesday our Internet went off. On the same day we get a letter from Telkom's Commercial Services - service is discontinued because it is not feasible to replace the line - erm, we have been using it since June, duh? We were offered an 8TA connection - 8TA doesn't work up here?
5. Phone Telkom to get port reactivated - Eish, there is no line, you cannot have ADSL.

Never mind we spent R15K running the point-to-point wireless link and getting it all working. Never mind we have been getting billed every month for our ADSL service, and paying it.

I seriously hope Telkom bombs and some European Telecoms operator comes in to save the day, because the incompetence at Telkom is starting to get on my tits!

EDIT: Luckily the techie that arranged permission for us to install the point-to-point link is aware of the problem and he is attending to the problem on our behalf - even he is pulling his hair out because thickies can't seem to get it around their heads that our ADSL still works, even without a line. :D

You may well get half your wish. I don't think any European Telecoms operator will be "saving the day" though.
