Telkom Kenya adsl prices

Wow they get 2Mb adsl lines in Kenya?
What is our Telkom doing to us? :(

256down/64up = R1059.15
512/128 = R2376.18
1024/256 = R4752.36
2048/512 = R9504.72

Wait I think you might have found one of the countries TelkomSA so proudly compares us against.

Oh wait

"Telkom SA has already shown interest in acquiring a stake in the state corporation."

"South Africa is described as a leading country in telecommunications in Africa because it possesses 40% of all telephone lines on the continent. Like in most African countries, the level of growth in its telecommunications sector is linked to the significant changes in the institutional environment governing the sector."

IT IS TELKOMSA. At least it explains the prices.

I think we should all draft a letter of apology to the people of Kenya for letting out demons escape our borders just so it can rape them harder than it rapes us.

Wow, i never thought another country could be more expensive than us! OUCH! Although, they might be uncapped/unshaped DSL in which case it might be comparable with SA's prices?

Those are the kinds of countries Telkom would prefer us to compare them to.

Kenya telecoms

Yeah - talk about expensive! I was billed R330 for a 10 minute call home from Mombasa (hotel rates of course!) And if you thought we have lag problems! I recently visited Kenya and had a rude awakening - it was like being back in the days of my ol 2400 / 9600 modem on a long distance call to a BBS... except that I didn't have the opportunity to use telnet and I stayed connected! I have also recently been to Tanzania and noticed that satellite has taken off in the corporate sector - stands to reason - although this also carries alot of baggage - at least they have some options here though, unlike us... telkom, sentech (government)... Am off to Zambia tomorrow for some time - hope I can at least keep in touch with the wife and kids... But then my US colleagues laugh at us when they come here... its all relative
