Telkom labour issues may affect world cup

Here we go!! This is the first of many that will be using the SWC as leverage.

Who is next. We should join the union. If we strike this year and demand a 50% increase they will have to giiieevv.

In Charge

Who is in charge in this country? I do not really want a answer,

I am not particulary fond of the US of A but they have something there that I like. Its is the 2 words:

"Youre Fired"

The government should have announced a year ago that no strikes would be tolerated during this period. But I guess that would involve some forward thinking... something that is not really familiar to the ANC.

Would anyone notice if telkom employees went on strike?

If you bank at ABSA and Nedbank, then yes. Or if you have a Telkom Business pabx system, or a data leased line, or want to use you "swipe" card to pay for goods at any shop, etc....

Very clever ploy by the 3 traditionally rival trade unions to stand together on this one!!!

I hope they can cope, because I would not like for the World to think of SA as a risk for investments.

Who was K*ked out by Isede becuase we were discussing this last year?

World Cup, milk it for all its worth and then some more.

Yeah even the Brits are complaining about the prices here even at R11 to the pound

The labour laws in this country are absolutely insane. You wouldn't believe the **** some of our employees are getting away with at the moment

I have been wondering about this. June - August is typical "Strike Season" as the media has been referring to it the past few years. How many services/industries directly related to the SWC will be affected and have these guys put some contingency plans in place to cope with this.

The Cape Town tourism industry loves to rip people off. I wonder if they will eventually realise that visitors aren't as dumb as they seem to think...
