Anybody who dealt with this can share some wisdom please? I ordered a Telkom line and ADSL in a fairly new complex in Burgundy Estate. There is a "blank box" in the kitchen, so I opened that assuming that's where the line would be..
No actual telephone line found, but there is a "draw wire".

So I went down and found it leads through the conduit to boxes against the wall. I opened it and found a couple of Telkom lines connected to other units. Now I would like to know since there isn't a line already connected to my unit, will Telkom pull the wire up using the draw line, or is it my responsibility to do it before they come to install? I don't want them to come in and spin the whole "get electrician to do it" and leave again. I'm sure I can easily do it myself, but not gonna bother if they normally do this.

Anyone have experience with this?

First I made a 10213 signup, first guy came, saw no line, but exchange was there. So he called the cable division of Telkom, who came out and check and made an appointment with the actual cable guys.

These guys came out on a Saturday and dug up the lawn, laid PVC pipe and pulled a cable to the closet drain.

Then first guy came out again to connect the in house box and drain and Telkom box at the complex entrance.

This all happened in 2 weeks and constant calling with first Order Number.

Okay so if I understand correctly, the first Telkom guy actually pulled the line for you? I doubt I will need anything dug up, it's just a straight up pull from the box below up the pvc into my unit using the draw wire. If I do need to do this myself though, would be cool if Telkom drops me a roll of cable at least.

A telkom techi will come and pull the telkom line through that pull wire of yours.

Thats what happened at my place.

But I would advise to help him out a bit, he's going to need it. (Hold the wire steady while he attempts to pull it through)

Thank you, exactly what I was looking for. Someone who has done it before.

Agreed with "Nether", it definitely helps if you can assist the technician!

When our complex got connected to the grid, Telkom discovered that the cable to our house was interrupted.. The technician was quick to pull a new wire, however we had difficulties with a jammed PVC pipe. Also it turned out, that Telkom only has a pull wire (fish tape) of max. 30m on their trucks. This was 2m short. Not succeeding to organize a longer wire from colleagues, I eventually went to buy my own fish tape at Builders.

After 4-5h working together, we managed to wash out the PVC pipe and pull the new cable through... ;)

Thanks for the replies guys. Will wait it out then and help the techie. Got a sms today confirming installation date on the 9th of April...orderd line on the 25th last month, so much for their 21 days turnaround time.
