So i used the Telkom line speed checker to determine what speed i can use on my number...

It says i can get 40mbps (on copper) so this would tell me that i could apply for a VDSL service.

that being said, after applying for a VDSL service (and buying a new modem) my line wont connect at all, few phone calls to telkom later and it seems i cant actually get VDSL on my line.

So my question is, can i use the line speed checker to PROVE that i can get that line speed and Telkom need to sort it out? or is it only a best guess and isn't really useful for an accurate representation of line speed at all.

basically I'm trying to determine if i can pursue the matter further to try and get VDSL based on the line speed checker of if its not worth it and i just stay on ADSL2+ (what an epic waste of money for a VDSL router).

I can't say for sure.. But when my area got put onto the MSAN, within 24 hours the line checker had changed my area from 10mb max, to 40mb (on copper). That was less than a month ago, so I'm going to guess that it's actually quite accurate and up to date.

In my case i don't trust it. Said you can up to 10mb and it wasn't even stable on a 4mb.

I don't trust it either, it says i can go to 10mb and when i apply for a 10mb line, they keep telling me my exchange does not support it, they said i must wait 6 months as the exchange may be upgraded by then.

When I test my number it doesn't display the area speed.
