Hi chaps,
Been a while since my last post, but since MyBB was pretty helpful to me recently I thought I'd chime in with a few experiences, maybe to help someone like some of your posts helped me.
After moving to a new place and applying for activation (self-install) on the existing Telkom line i was told it would take until the following Friday to get an engineer out to the exchange, which comes and goes without anything happening. Monday rolls around and after calling the help centre I was told there aren't enough ports (A bit fishy since I'd asked to make sure before signing everything, but apparently their system is pretty backwards, only updating once a week).
Anyway, after much fighting and a lot of calls to their service department to try get a date for my exchange update, it turns out that despite the account they've been billing me from having the right address, the install address has magically changed to a house that doesn't exist (the best part was the dedication that the call centre lady used to explain that they had sent an engineer who confirmed my new fictional house). But after a lot of fighting the order was renewed and I was told the following Friday by 12 I would be online.
Friday 12 comes and I'm shattered that nothing seems to be working after the epic battle from Monday, but resolutely call the service centre, who swear the line is active (despite no light on my modem) and the order for 2mb uncapped had been misplaced, but at least it was sorted quickly, despite which there was no connection until 4 that evening.
Anyway, just a warning to those people who have been declined ports there's a chance that Telkom has somehow given you a new Narnia address only their engineers can see.
