Following on from this:
Have a problem on my phone and/or line today. Line is working but phone not ringing. Can dial out fine, and if you pick up the silent phone you can answer a call. Is it possibly a line fault i.e. not enough power coming through to ring (normal handset not a handset that requires electricity)? Have to test it with another phone first. Current Panasonic phone is about 6 months old.

Installed an ADSL router on the line on Monday but it was off after because my ADSL is not activated yet. Phone is on a filter and tried with direct connection to phone jack - still no ring.

Sound like a handset issue (pardon the pun) :p

Test with another handset.

:p Will test tomorrow.

Tried another handset - same issue - line is working, but phone doesn't ring.

@Airwolf , Possibly know what is wrong. PM me the phone number causing the problem, mate wants to check something.
Applied through Afrihost, so don't have an order number to contact Telkom directly.

Other applications I did for work colleagues in different suburbs here were completed in 2 weeks :o. Also through Afrihost.

Sorry, cannot assist.

Regarding your phone... there is either a problem on your copper line or the ringer card in the ISAM (MSAN) is faulty. Either way you will have to log a fault and Telkom must fix it. And it will have to be fixed before they can activate your DSL service!

Okay, thanks, will report it now.

App doesn't have a note feature - logged it as intermittent service.

Just got a call from Telkom (that rang :D) problem sorted. That was quick. Thanks Mickey :).

Following on from the problem of my landline phone not ringing, which was subsequently fixed.

Started having the following problem:
A) Call from cellphone to home landline did not give any ringing sound on cellphone, though text on screen says ringing on other phone. Then one of two things happened:
A1) call "connected" but was still dead silent.
A2) you got through to a different location.
B) At the same time one of two things happened with the landline phone:
B1) answered call was dead.
B2) you received a wrong number call.

Reported the problem and appeared to work fine for a day or two.

So now if I don't hear the ring on my mobile, I immediately disconnect and redial. If you hear the ringing on mobile then the call connects fine.
Mobile no longer goes to a wrong number. Though landline still receives a wrong number call at the exact same time of the failed call from my mobile, from time to time.

Reported fault again. Some weird **** going on.

On the ADSL issue - no ports available in my area, so have to wait until end of May :(.

Checked availability on their site and it said ADSL not available, and gave me a form to fill in.

Received this via email today:
