Telkom line rental Question.

Hi mBB member,

Firstly, Please excuse me of bit bad grammar hope it don't annoyed you.

So I've signed up the Afrihost (2mb line). Still waiting from Telkom to activate DSL line first then good to go. But I need ask you question.

In http://mybroadband.co.za/news/adsl/102247-uncapped-adsl-price-comparison-2.html which it informative and I notice Telkom voice and ADSL line rental prices Telkom voice and ADSL line rental prices. 2Mbps ADSL R157 (voice line) + R165 (ADSL line) = Total R322. So it is possible to exclude Voice line (I'm Deaf by the way and I dont need to make voice call or phoning) and ADSL line? Or it must pay both?

You're talking about naked ADSL. Well, we all want that, but we are forced to pay voice line rental coz Telkom want's to make more money :(

So, at the moment, we have to take voice line with adsl, even if the phone is in the drawer. Maybe in future, who knows :(
 
Thank you wingnut771, "Naked ADSL" is new word to me :). Sigh wish Telkom offer to Deaf client exclude Voice line that I've to paying R157 which I never use it...
 
No problem :)

Hopefully when/if LLU (local loop unbundling - meaning, another company can give you an adsl line at home) happens then this will be possible. Until then, we must just worship the ground telkom walks on :D
 
You would always have to pay R157 for the voice line.

You can however bundle your ADSL line with your ADSL Data (like with Afrihost, what you are doing now).
 
POTS line rental is actually for the upkeep of the copper and can't be avoided.
