I would like to say that it is long overdue that Hellkom upgrade the 512 lines to 1 Meg. This brings me to another point. I have a “4 Meg” line which was bumped up to 10 Megs last year. When it was done I was really getting some awesome speeds. After a month the line became unstable and when I reported it all they did was downgraded it to 8 Megs. They said that they can as officially their minimum speed that they give is 1 Meg. I had no choice to accept that. Then a few weeks later it became unstable again and they put it down to 6 Megs and so they story continues. I am now sitting on 1 Meg and praying that my line gives up the ghost soon. Maybe somebody will sit up and realize that I do have a problem with my line.

My question is when are Hellkom going to adjust their minimum speeds for their lines? As right now I feel that I am been ripped off as I am only getting 1 Meg and paying the full price, yet some 512 subscribers are getting 1 Meg and paying about R80.00 less than me.

To think Hellkom have ambitious plans to provide a 20 Meg service.

Downgrade your line and ISP account until the situation has a clear end in sight. No point in paying for something you can't use and can get cheaper!

I was playing this whole post through my head a few times...(You know when you have that conversation with someone else in your head)
I decided to just post the details and not to bore you with the other stuff.

I assume I'm an above average Telkom subscriber, paying about R30k a year to Telkom, this past Monday I dropped my line speed to 384kpbs because I will no longer pay R413/month simply for line rental where I get at most 2048kpbs.

I'm busy testing stability with CellC, but these mobile arseholes aren't much better either!...But I will most probably at end of month cancel BOTH my Telkom subscriptions.

Anyway point of post is the following.

1. Do not pay R4956/year JUST for a 2048kpbs(in my case) connection WITHOUT any data.
2. Rather check mobile stability and pay R2000/year for "line rental" AND 60gb data. (In this case, get two and pay R4000 for 120gb, you still save R1000 and get 120gb data where with Telkom you pay R1000 more and get NO data.)

Fun Fact dear Telkom, for every 100 customers like myself that cancel, you are knocking off R 3 million revenue each time!!!
