Telkom Line speed upgrade

Nope nothing yet.

Staying in westrand Rangeview area

You're referring to the speed upgrades that start on the 15th of November? Yeah it would be pretty weird if someone got them already.

I'm on a 10mbps profile now was on a 4mbps. And the upgrades started on the 11-11-2013.

Surprisingly, I actually know of 3 lines which have been upgraded.

2x 1MB lines have been upgraded to 2MB in Bellville area
1x 4MB line has been unpgraded to 10MB in Stellenbosch area

I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen the modem sync with my own eyes...

Kensington JHB. 1mb up to 2mb. I realised it last night.
Lucky...

I'm still synced at 1mb. Greenstone Hill (near Edenvale). Giving them a call as I type. Been waiting for an "service consultant" for about 5min now.

Yea since they changed from the 0800375375 number the wait is long now, used to be a minute or less.

Also realized that phoning won't help... No need to phone, it will happen automatically once they upgraded your exchange.

so i have to keep on checking my router for synching speed. seems like a schlep. ill check daily then. if i remember. i feel like doubling my speed myself and then just get the pricing adjustment later.

Don't think that's a good idea. I'm pretty sure they'll upgrade your line speed again and then you pay the same price.

I'm on 2. My exchange can only handle 4. So if it happens now or then it shouldn't make a difference. Or is my logic flawed?

Yeah you could do that. If it can only go up to 4mbps, then that is probably logical. But, phone then and ask first. My exchange can also only go up to 4mbps, but I'm on 1. So upgrading to 2mbps now will make it a 4mbps account when they upgrade. In which case I'm still going to pay more than I'm doing now.

Just had an interesting chat with a lady at Telkom about a totally unrelated issue, but thought I would ask about the upgrades anyway.

From what she is saying, it sounds like the more neglected exchanges are getting the upgrades first. E.g. in CTN, she mentioned Table View, Milnerton and hinted at Bellville (you know, our favourite exchange WBLX03). The Bellville one I can semi-confirm as one of the lines which I know have been upgraded are on this exchange.

Rangeview - Telkom Lines

Hi

I need to become a dentist, as getting info from telkom is like pulling teeth.
My line has been out since 2014-04-15. It took a month just to find out that the lines was stolen.
The next question when will my service "We are working on it" is the answer.

Great as I havent seen any Telkom Van's in my area since the outage.

Any greater power that can read minds, that can help.

Telkom use contractors to do cable work so you won't see a Telkom van.
