So from last week Friday we had no telephone line. Phone Telkom only to be told the exchange is being upgraded. I'm like ok sweet. Monday morning the house got smacked by lightning. Frying the cordless phones. Logged a call for it in case. The Monday afternoon got a sms stating that the exchange had been upgraded successfully but no working line.

Fast forward to today I still have no service as yet. Phoning everyday only to find out this afternoon that the Port has been reserved because I applied for LTE.

**sigh** never applied for the service. They will investigate as to how this happened, so I suspect I will not have a telephone line and ADSL only by the end Jan 2016.

Their service is appalling, which I had some advice for you but as per my post in this same category you'll notice I also have some gripes with them.

Try going to the Telkom direct store really early. I went there on Saturday morning as they opened 09:00 to complain about my line upgrade and they said it would take 72 working hours. Later that day the line was upgraded to 10Mbps.

Of course, now the line does not sync (that is a different problem) even though I'm 400m from the exchange with the attenuation suggesting the cable length is +- 1Km. Number qualifies for VDSL as well. There is simply too much noise on the line so I logged a fault for that and now I'll probably also wait a month or so before they eventually send someone out to come and have a look.

In the meantime I requested them to drop sync speed back to 4Mbps so that I can at least have internet for the time being.

I seem to be on the same boat. My line speed started dropping two months ago. I made several calls to Telkom. They even said a technician will be in contact. I was told I could be lucky if I get 1Mb on my 2Mb line. This is unacceptable I always had 2Mb for five years and never had problem getting 2Mb on the line. Why must I accept to get 1Mb on 2Mb line now.

In the mean time my line went completely dead. Till today I could not get anybody attending to my problem.
Is there anybody who knows a way I can report this getting results?

Meh tried the twitter account with the same BS everyday.

That's why I went to post on their community site as well.

I know you get the daily copy paste drivel that's why I retweeted my tweet daily as well. When there's nothing you can do to get them to move their lazy behinds- you take anything that you can get.

Ok, joined the community, will see what happens

Ja boet welcome to world of k4k.

The ticket is with a Rihaz Eait now who will assign it to a tekkie. Wether it will be today or next year is another question.

My line has been dead since 15 December and my adsl down since 18 December, it's rather sucky.

I imagine that most of their staff took leave or such, so no hope until after the new year, I'm guessing?

Are the dsl portions of the line, with Telkom or another ISP?

ISPs are far easier to deal with, in my experience.
I disagree.

Your experience will be very largely dependant on where you live in SA. There are certain densely populated areas where the relevant staff servicing those areas feel absolutely f'all. They are untouchable.

In other areas the staff are sharp and take pride in their work.

PS. and this has nothing to do with the outsourced, useless call centres....
