So i have been having a major problem with my internet line the last 2-3 weeks. I have a 10Mbps Line and Business DSL Package with AFRIHOST. My download rate is barely 4mbps and there is barely any upload rate to speak of. (Example, to upload 4 images (about 1-3mb per image) it takes 2-3 hours. This is ridiculous. I have logged multiple complaints with Afrihost as well as Telkom and every time they tell me the issue is fixed its actually gotten worse.

I am starting to think the entire telkom line needs replacing? Am I right? And seeing as the issue is with telkom would I be liable to pay for the replacement? (I would ask telkom myself but they keep transferring my call and then placing me on hold...and their in store staff are absolutely clueless and incompetent)

Any advice on how to fix my problem or any advice really would be appreciated

I have done the following things with no change to the service:

- Removed the POTS Filter
- Changed routers (tried 3 different ones)
- Changed the Line between wall socket/where the POTS filter would usually be plugged in and the router (if that makes sense)
- I have logged complaints for Noisy Lines & Faulty Lines

Look forward to hearing from you guys.

Have you tried another ISP account?
Could you paste the modem stats from your router?
Can you unplug all devices on the line when testing.
Could you post a tracert?

Hi, could you tell us what ISP package you have?
Your line most likely has a fault or is really old, your SNR is really low for your Attenuation.
You are on ADSL_g.dmt modulation instead of ADSL2+, ask a techie to come over/call center to check if you can get ADSL2+.

I have a 10Mbps Business DSL Bundle with Afrihost

I cant see how the line can be old as it was installed in June 2014

What does ADSL2+ mean? Whats the difference? (sorry im not a tech savvy with this regard)

Definite line fault there.

Log a fault for a technician to check for faulty connections, and also ask to be put onto a adsl2+ enabled port.

i have logged complaints but telkom is not doing anything about it

Can't do much about it. Keep the reference numbers handy and ask for refunds. Try to keep escalating it, ask for supervisor etc.
Keep asking for a fault to be reopened, not a new one created, will make a smudge on their record.

Good luck, hope a good techie gets to you.
