Yeah, the news article states that the local we getting after the CAP is free "for now". Lets just hope they inform us properly when they are ready to charge us :)

It may be a long shot (very long :) ) but a theory I have is that they might also just be testing to see what people do when they know that they don't have to pay for local. And If their system can handle the load then they will just keep it free. They did the same thing when they were testing the 4 meg lines that were supposed to be 1 meg lines. They just kept the 4 meg lines going at the same price as the old 1meg lines.

If my theory is true you may ask why they said they will be charging us after the 'trial' period. Well that would be a safety net for them. If it is too much load on their system they can start charging us and no one would really complain because they already told us they were going to charge. However if the system could handle it they would keep it free and people would be happy.

Good theory, hope you right :p but lets not get our hopes up , this is telkom we talking about. They still advertise dail-up as internet connectivity.

:)

Well it seems that something has happened. I'm on Webafrica, I had used 210mb of my account, downloaded a 100mb local file, and my bandwidth consumption hadn't moved. This is after login in and out.

Can you confirm that local did not count towards your cap?

Ye maybe telkom do realize the Neotel will be good competition and customers will move if the continue to rip us off :p or the just being telkom and are going to charge local :(

I tested with the SAIX news server, and my local usage on a regular SAIX account from Webafrica is recording as it always has. :(
