Telkom Local Only carry-over?

This has probably been discussed on this forum but there are many local only threads when searching.

What I want to know is - if I leave my PPPOE connection connected tonight with my capped SAIX account active (with lots of Local Cap left) will the account carry on using local tomorrow morning, considering it is a new month, until it drops the connection?

What I am saying is - can I use that PPPOE connection for Local and create a new PPPOE connection to start using my SAIX International Cap?

Yes, the connection will stay local, however, the access local you have this month will not be used, you will be using next month's local. Check your TI tracker page to see if your connection is still local or international.

Yes, you can create a new PPPOE connection tomorrow and use both local and international at the same time. Be careful though, if the local connection drops, and it can drop at any time, it will reconnect as international and you might be wasting international bandwidth on something you intended to get locally.eliksir
EDIT: Oh, I see you using PPPOE for local as well, I'm not sure if it will work then. What I do is I have my router authenticate a local connection pre-month end and keep that connection active and do a PPPOE connection only when I need international.

So let me confirm this for myself:

My account is capped and my local is basically finished (there's like ~300MB left, well for free anyway) I am downloading tonight but I'm not going to disconnect until next month (ie after tomorrow) so this usage (on the connection that will be disconnected tomorrow) will count towards next month's local and not to this month's right?!

If it counts toward this month then I'm gonna have to pay!

I have my router set up to stay connected on an uncapped international account and i have my torrent box dialed up using PPPOE with my DO2 SAIX account which has 15gb local left. Basically what i am hoping to achieve from tomorrow is use October's 20gb of local before i have to use the 3gb of international. Am hoping, by keeping the local only connection connected tonight that this will work.

That will work for sure, I did it last month to use 10GB local at the start of the month and then leave the other 10GB local for the end of the month. Leave a local connection running over tonight and you'll keep it and be able to dial an international connection on the same TI account tomorrow

Thinking about it like that I just answered my own question, never mind
