I have had adsl now since July 2003, and am more and more becoming peeved off with the bandwidth issue (and the high costs of this limited bandwidth. I could download more than 3Gig a month on a dial-up connection.
Well - hopefully relief is on the horizon - by the name of Sentech. So far it looks as if technically the service is good - they just need to beef up their admin and technical support.
As soon as Sentech is available in my area in Cape Town, I will give up my adsl immediately to take up a 128 or 256 wireless connection. Even if the bandwidth limitation is around 2Gig per day - I can not keep on downloading like that as I may get to the end of the internet. So I will get much more value for my money and save on stress medication in not having to deal with Telkom.
What I can not understand is that, once I have moved over to Sentech, Telkom will never in a hundred years get me back as a customer, and I can with safety assume that this applies to most forum users.
Telkom still has a chance of keeping me as a customer before Sentech launches in my area, provided they start to offer a reasonable 24/7 service at a reasonable cost. Technically I can not really complain about the adsl service. However, once I have left them, and even if they drop their prices, I will never return to them.
Now Telkom does not seem to be able to understand this, that it is ten times more difficult to get back a lost customer than getting a new customer.
Telkom - you are digging your own grave - and I will not even send flowers to your funeral
