I've previously posted why one shouldn't use LTE on the iPhone 5S. To recap, while you get an LTE data connection and LTE speeds, at some point your voice calls will become disabled (tested across two different iPhone 5S handsets).

For the iPhone 6, something is different. Over a period of two days I found that the phone can switch back and forth between LTE and 3G, as and when needed for voice calling. (An LTE data connection cannot co-exist with a voice call)

I field tested between two base stations, switching between 3G and LTE multiple times, while also making phone calls. Perhaps VoLTE support on the iPhone 6 has already improved the handoff between LTE and 3G?

So while Telkom remains an unsupported LTE network for Apple iPhone, it works flawlessly on the iPhone 6 and what a pleasure it is. :)
