Telkom and there "software activation"......

I recently changed from Web Africa to Mweb.

I was on the Home Uncapped Complete with Web Africa and when I cancelled I asked them to move the line back to Telkom because they couldn't move the line to mweb.

Now I get an invoice with an amount of R583 ex VAT listed on the invoice under Other and the 1mbps line rental with my analogue line rental is listed fine under Rental

So I phoned them and they tell me that amount of R583 is for the "software activation" of the line when I moved the line back to Telkom.....

I can't believe that they charge the same amount for this as they do for a physical installation....

I am yes that's R600 extra this month.
I really didn't expect it, I thought it was a simple "start billing me for the rental because Web Africa isn't going to any longer" case.

Exactly. Until we have legislated LLU it is not worth the hassle of moving your line to an ISP.

Exactly, until I start seeing MWeb, Open Web & other ISP maintenance guys working on the the local loop I don't see any advantage.
