Telkom Mail!

Hello!

I just setup a DSL connection for my friend of mine's church. Simple dsl 512, with a 4-port router.

Everything is setup and working fine except the mail.

The mail is done through telkom. All the details are correct and from home there accounts work.

However from the connection using 2003 outlook the mail won't send and gives the smtp ssl issue.

Does anybody have any ideas whether i must forward ports or anything?

Not sending, is normally the "My server requires authentication" check box in the account settings.

you are right!

but the problem was telkoms fax. it should be:
pop3.telkomsa.net
smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net

the dsl part makes all the difference!

ya that "dsl" part is a big prob, cos alot of peolpe are used to the normal...pop3.telkomsa.net or smtp.telkomsa.net

people get impatient and then type without the dsl or they type .co.za or instead of .net

I have a similar problem with Thunderbird. I can receive mail but not send mail.
I use a webmail.co.za account, does anybody know the smtp for it?

smtp has nothing to do with you webmail account -- it is the SMTP server of your ISP ie if Telkom is your ISP then it is smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net
