Hi, i've got the new Telkom Marconi Premium Combo router and I've changed the default admin password but it seems everytime i reboot the modem the admin password resets back to the default admin password?? :mad:Should i even ask:sick:?
 
Did u save after such a change?

I changed it several times, it did work..

Procedure..

@ the router interface...
Select Configuration, authentication, edit user(make changes), apply.. save config(below configuration)... Save

Restart P-combo & check it again...
 
There's a more secure way to do that
Step 1: Bin the telkom Modem
Step 2: Get a decent billion or other modem
Step 3: Setup admin password
Step 4: Restart modem and forget about previous modem

also, disable remote access. so even if you dont change your password, nobody can connect to your router.
as said above, make sure you safe your settings (you might even need to restart)
 
Agrees with Gru

Some telkom routers are not worth having. Except the black 5102g wifi router - this works a treat after getting a firmware upgrade.
 
would that firmware upgrade allow bridged AND routed concurrently (i.e. half bridge)

If so, which version and from where?

Still, why do people use these mega! ./ #$$%%^ crap? Get some decent routers, plenty 2 choose from :D
 
I think i might have forgotten to save configuration, thought the apply button did that :o

I was having trouble with my old telkom router and was looking to buy a new one but then thought maybe i go to telkom cos I'm on my contract. :o
They gave me the new router and a bunch of free stuff (cordless phone + wireless headset & wireless usb stick), not too bad considering I only have 2 months left on my contract :p

all & all i got +/- R3200 worth of free stuff for signing a 2 year deal which i would have paid for in anycase had i not signed a contract, only pain was i couldnt upgrade my line.
 
sorry to bring back an old post but does anyone know where i can get the latest firmware upgrade

The Marconi SA website ( http://www.marconisa.co.za/modems_software.htm ) doesn't even exist any more. GL on finding firmware for it.

That is why I'm asking if anybody might have the file. I Know its not the best router, but thats what I got. :D
 
hi i have had the telkom premium combo for 4 years and it is continually losing the adsl connection and i have to reboot it every 30 mins .... telkom says there is no problem with the line .... could it be the modem ?
