Hey there. i have trouble logging into my router because it says my username and password is wrong. "admin" "admin" should be the correct default username and password but it says its wrong. and i have never touched the password settings on the router. im trying to setup wireless from my laptop but the router has a wep passkey underneath it but it consists of letters and numbers. so when i tried to input this wep key on my laptop wen i try connect to the wireless network, it says that the password cant contain certain characters. but it can contain numbers. so my first problem is that i cant logon to the router because it says the username/password is wrong, and i cant get my laptop to connect to the wireless network because the wep code on the router is wrong.

can anyone please give me some advice?

thanks alot

kyle

I'm pretty sure the user and pass are both admin. I set up a 100WR once but it was a while ago. I think it uses the MAC address for the WPA passphrase, just like the 200VWR, def. not WEP.

I think the 100WR has USB connector too, try that instead of doing the setup over wireless.

Try admin and leaving the password blank and yes its a WPA PSK under the router. When you setup WPA PSK's use hexadecimal characters only its the only thing it likes.

ok i have no clue wat hexadecimal characters are so please can someone explain. and im not trying to access the router via wireless i am doing it from a pc plugged into ethernet. and i have tried ... admin admin, admin administrator, admin and blank, blank and admin. i dont know wat else. the default should be admin admin

Your router may have been hacked, your account details may have been stolen, and your router password may have been changed.

You may be able to restore to factory defaults. Is there a reset button?

ya there is a reset button. but it happened before and then we just turned it off and on then it worked. but il maybe have to reset it. and can anyone pls tell me wat hexadecimal characters are? and how to type out 00300a7a3... (wont include the rest) in hexidecimal characters??

Reset the router by holding in the reset button for a few seconds. This will reset the username and password to admin and admin. An important point to remember is that when you enter the WPA key is the the letters MUST be in CAPITAL letters.

Hi i have the same router but when i try to reset it, the settings dont change. I held down the reset button for 10 seconds(router off), and turned it on after 40 sec.

Is that the correct procedure?

the router must be on when you hold down the reset button ........... no switching off involved.
