Hi Guys,

Not to sure if this is the right thread for this... Im new here and still finding my way around:)

I've been searching the net high and low for answers but nothing has come up:( I have a Mega100WR router at home that came with one of those ADSL bundles from Telkom. My parents have an account with Mweb as the ISP and I have recently started using the net from my room. They only have a 2GB cap, and it gets used up pretty quickly now that I am using the net:D
I've heard that you can put routers into bridge mode and run two ISP's off one router. I want to get my own ISP and let my parents use the MWeb one. Is this possible on the router that I have?

Hi,

I'm assuming you currently have the MWEB account set up on the router? If so, then it's very easy for you to use your own ISP. Just create a new connection in Network Connections (assuming you're using windows XP), select "Connect to internet", "Set up manually", "connect using broadband connection that requires username and password". Then enter your personal ISP details and voila! You can now connect to your ISP while your parents continue to surf using their MWEB account (still configured on the router)

I've heard this particular function that the router provides, where it has one account configured on the router and yet still allows you to set up another connection from your PC, is called "router and bridge mode"

Hope this helps!

Awesome stuff dude!! That sounds so easy! Gonna give that a try when I get home and see what I can play around with. Im running Vista, not XP, but I'll go look and see what I can sort out. So I dont need to go and configure my router into bridge mode and things. I'm using a WiFi connection if that changes anything

Thanks for the info Avi.

It works witout changing any settings on the router. The WiFi changes nothing.

Awesome stuff!! Im gonna try get hold of a CyberSmart ADSL account asap, thanks for the help guys
