Please be warned this is a Flame on Telkom.

I just spent the last 4 days trying to figure out why my local pings on UUnet were 280-300ms EVERYONE has a ping sub 50ms to www.saix.net. Anyway as I was doing tests I was asked by Webafrica to do a check between my capped account and uncapped account to see where the problem could be.For the first time since Sunday last week I actually logged into my capped account to do some local ping checks and low and behold my ping range was 277ms-312ms... I was livid with rage at this point and appologised to Webafrica for placing the blame in the wrong place... Now I'm sitting on the #$@#$@#%@#$ phone waiting for Telkom to supply a service that is apperantly 24/7 for the @#%@#$ up they did to MY LINE without my knowledge. I am actually shaking with RAGE!! Anyway... I'm still waiting(been 20 minutes so far) for an answer... I'm going to try and calmly approach telkom with my problem but I don't know if I can... do I have the will... we'll have to see... also does anyone know what other number I can try in DBN instead of the generic 0800 375 375?

Thanks and sorry for the flame need somewhere to outlet.

Still no joy

well it has been over 2 weeks and still no joy from Saix or Telkom. I am starting to give up here... I have logged mutiple complaints with latency both local and international and I have asked them what I could possibly do to resolve the issue.I got a reply from Saix saying this is a hardware issue with my home pc and that I am the only person experiencing this(not that it should matter if I am the only one since I am paying for a service and they aren't delivering) I want a techy to come take a look at my setup at home I even told them I will pay his hourly wage if he could fix the problem. Still nothing. Can anyone give me any advice as to what steps I can take? Apperantly the line they use most is "this is a no garentee service" I wonder if they would do this if I bought the 4gig unshaped account for a month... get them to fix it then cancel my account. It feels like a terrible waist of R830. Any help?

dude how sure are you that it is telkom you said you are uunet ive heard there pings can get really high at times. phone mweb and ask for a weekend test and tell them if you like you will sign up then see what the pings are like with mweb.

I have 2 accounts.. the UUnet uncapped account and a Saix Account through Umaginet, both are giving me over 280ms to www.saix.net so I doubt it's the accounts... also lately I noticed my Modem connecting at 640kbit/s down and 384kbits/s up.. I thought this was going to change back? I know it isn't my accounts since both give more or less the same results. 280ms-300ms LOCAL that is what is screaming in my head... how can that speed be justified when it's local. I mean 100ms fine... even 120ms.. but more than double that?! There has to be something wrong here?

I have the same problem here on my 9Gb Mweb account. Thought it was just me.

Finally got a reference number and it look like a techy will come out to check the line out(I hope) I'll keep you posted as things happen.

Mine was 2048 down up until a week ago. Then I breathed a big sigh of relief when I heard that they where cancelling this insane procedure. But mine is down to 640 this week :( so it doesn't seem to be the case. Unless they are planning on implementing it and then rolling it back at all the exchanges

As for pings, they have been really high since Wednesday, seems to happen for 2/3 days every month end.
