I have heard about Telkom's MGW that they are offering to those who has no hard line, and would like to know if anyone have used it and if you can get adsl on it, or an internet plan

I'm not sure if it is marketed as ADSL. It is an IP internet connection...

Are you talking of telkom wimax? If so yes you can get wimax voice & internet which works the same as adsl. Only 512Kb/s speed though. You can use your own ISP's adsl account.

No, this is not WiMax, it's a Alverion multi-gain wireless system.

Oh okay. I've got an Alverion CPE unit outside on my wall. Seems a very similar service. I have a voice line and 512kb/s 'adsl' over the link. Its a small holding area, the copper lines got stolen too many times.

The billing didn't change. I'm billed as if I have a regular copper line.

Telkom techies came to the door and asked if they could install it and remove the copper line. There was no money or paperwork involved.
