Even if you have openserve fiber, they will still migrate you to their wireless services AFAIK (based on the fact that we had OpenServe fiber at the time they first attempted to migrate us before we moved to https://www.freshphone.co.za/).
Note Vox has a tendency to up their prices every year. If you don't call that much, it's worth going the freshphone route, note this is the promotion that tRoN is referring to: https://www.vox.co.za/vox-lte/ , on Telkom LTE so it's 171+99 as a minimum package.Ok
Just discovered the vox voip service and I will port my telkom number instead.
They offer an unlimited call package for R172 pm.

Freshphone pricing is R0.39/minute to Telkom landline and mobile, R0.69/minute for any other cellular. You'd have to average at lest ~4 hours of calling a month to non-Telkom numbers to make it worth it (not counting the R99 base package requirement), which will probably go against some FUP that Vox hasn't disclosed.
Why not just use data? E.g. discord is ~36MB/hour if constant sound on both ends, that's at most 2GB a month and you're already paying for fiber so a few rand at most.No the R172 voip offer is linked to the openserve fibre I have with them
My wife loves using the “landline” she can talk for 2 hours per day with family.
I can’t seem to find their FUP on the unlimited voip though

If data usage is super important, go Telegram with data saver on.
Keep a cheap Nokia 2.2 as that will get another 2 years of security updates guaranteed, use that as the home VoIP phone. Install telegram on it, get prepaid and load a gig or two on it, take advantage of the *123# deals. Call via telegram with it.We currently have a fixed line with telkom that offers the unlimited calls. I’ve cancelled my dsl and these days the telkom copper goes down a lot especially with load shedding.
I want to continue the “landline experience” using a cordless voip phone.
