Telkom Mobile Galaxy S5 offer?

I am in the process of looking for a new mobile service provider, and getting a good deal on a new handset at the same time.

So far CellC offer the Galaxy S4 with 1gig of data for around 369 p/m.

I noticed theat Telkom mobile offers the S5 for about R100 more and a total of 2gig and 150mb data.

My questions: Where is the catch? No-one else has an offer with this much data on this model, at this rate!

What is Telkom data?

What impact does per minute have on one's allocated minutes pe month as opposed to per second billing?

What is Tm coverage like?

All comments will be appreciated.
 
TM internet is great. Had it for over 2 years. Low latency for 3g and good speeds. I haven't been anywhere in Jozi where I was outside coverage.
 
Telkom mobile has a roaming agreement with MTN so where telkom mobile does not have coverage you are automatically switched over to MTN network.

So Telkom mobile data will be consumed first if you have coverage, if you are roaming it starts to take from the all networks bundle.

If you want to port your number over to them please go in store to do it.... I did not have a good experience with the web sales but thankfully my problem was sorted.

My suggestion is to buy a prepaid sim and test out the network in your area for a week or so.

Regarding per minute and per second:
Per minute if you speak for 30 seconds a minute is deducted from your account.
Per second you speak 30 seconds you are billed for 30 seconds.

You will notice the lower end contracts are billed per minute.

All local and national voice services on SmartPlan 50,100 and 150 packages shall be billed on a per-minute billing methodology.
All local and national voice services on SmartPlan 250,375 and 500 packages shall be billed on a per-second billing methodology.

Another advantage of taking a contract with telkom mobile is that first 12 months telkom mobile to telkom mobile calls are free.

I am quite happy with telkom mobile my brother and I have both left vodacom. My brother is using Sim Sonke and I am on smart plan 50, but again I stress on the fact "test the network before you get into a contract".
 
Thank you for all the replies! What is the difference between ALL NETWORK and NATIONAL NETWORK data?
 
Guessing: All network will roam on any network - national will be Telkom only / or might roam on MTN only
